Betalbatim
Beach, popularly know as the sunset beach,
is a small stretch of beach in South Goa.
Most of the beaches in Goa are palm
fringed beaches but this beach has more of
cold pine trees. Betalbatim is an
Indo-Portuguese village surrounded by lush
green rice fields and whispering palms
where one can come to escape from the
stresses of city living and relax in a
serene secluded area. Betalbatim beach
stretches till the horizon and is
practically deserted except for the
intermittent hutments and shacks and a few
fishermen hutments. The beach is clean and
beautiful and is surrounded by greenery
from the land side wherein mango as well
palm grove provides an assuring roof over
the top. There are also a number of hotels
and restaurants that serve some tasty Goan
dishes and drinks. In Betalbatim one can
see some old palacios built during the
Portuguese era that belong to the
landlords or the region's Goenkars.
