Vagator Beach has become a hot
favorite tourist destination among the
tourists with stretches of soft white
sands, doted with black rocks, swaying
coconut palms, and a scenic view of the
Arabian Sea.
Vagator Beach is split into two by
seaside headland, to the north is Big
Vagator Beach and towards the south is
Ozrant Beach or Little
Vagator Beach.
Dominated by the red ramparts of Chapora
Fort, Vagator's white sandy beach is
undeniably one of the best beaches of the
world.
The Vagator beach is relatively
quieter, relaxed and less crowded than
other North Goa beaches such as Anjuna,
Baga and Calangute giving you the

yourself as the waves reach out to caress

Access : Vagator beach is situated
to the north of Anjuna Beach and at a distance
of 09 kms from Mapusa, 22 kms from Panaji and
51 kms from Dabolim airport.
Beach Activities :
Besides the breath-taking beaches, Vagator has
other attractions also to offer. From Vagator
beach, one can see the 500-year-old
Portuguese Fort. It takes you down the
memory lane depicting the Old Portuguese era.
You can also take a trek to this fort by
climbing up those black rocks and reach this
fort. Once inside the fort, you won't mind the
fatigue you are feeling as the view from this
fort is absolutely stunning with the wide
expanse of greenery and the blue sea till your
eyes can reach. However, you can opt for
swimming which is quite safe in Big Vagator
Beach. Some local shacks will offer the
necessary gear for swimming and other water
sports. Take a shower in the clean water of
springs to wash off the salt after a swim in
the sea. Shopping enthusiasts can look forward
to a wide range of souvenirs and garments at
the local markets.

Many of the famous beaches of Goa are located
near the Vagator beach. These include
Anjuna, Baga and Calangute
beaches. All these beaches form a chain of
beaches in north Goa that are among the
foremost tourist attractions in Goa.
Chapora fort which is 500 years old
Portuguese fort offers a splendid view of the
adjoining coast and the hills at a distance.
There are two fresh water springs known as
Vagator springs which are among the major
tourist attractions of Vagator. One of the
spring is located at the foot of a hill in
north Vagator beach and the other being in the
Little Vagator beach or Ozrant beach. There is
also a small fishing village adjoining the
beach known as Chapora Village which
is an interesting location to get a feel of
the local way of life. A face of Lord Shiva
has been carved on a sea side boulder by some
unknown sculptor, don't miss to take a
snapshot.
How to Reach
: There are frequent bus service to Vagator
from Panaji and Mapusa. The nearby places can
be reached by hiring motorbikes, or by taxis
or auto rickshaws.
