Beach is one of the maintained beaches in
Kasargod; this beach is a vast expanse of
white sands spread over an area of 35
acres.
The beach is dotted with palm trees thus
giving it an exotic feel. The Bekal fort
beach in Kerala is also famous for a
landmark fort known as the Bekal fort. It
is a beautiful fort, which has been
preserved to some extent and makes a great
observatory point. The Arabian Sea can be
seen in its entire splendor and at this
beach one can get the view of the
spectacular sunset and sunrise.
This beach is a visual delight as it has
been recently given a facelift by the
concerned authorities.

Two huge
sculptures with beautiful murals have been
set up there to make it look beautiful. After sunset,
the beach is illuminated with electric
bulbs so that people can enjoy the beach
even after dusk. There is a water park for
children on the premises that attract
tourists as well as locals in large
numbers. One can also rest in the sheds
that have been set up at random distances.
There are plenty
of parking spaces available for vehicles and a
very nominal fee is charged for parking.
Beautification of the beach includes
installation of two sculptures of Theyyam
created using laterite at the beach and a shed
with walls adorning murals created by artisans
from Nilambur. Apart from these a rock garden
at the parking area has been developed where
laterite boulders of various size has been
utilized. Under the social forestry scheme
planting trees has been done in the beach
area. Walk way: One can have a beautiful walk
way has been laid for the visiting tourists to
explore the beauty of the fine coastline and
enjoy the panoramic view of the Bekal Fort.
Resting facilities: There are Multi
shed and Eru madam would provide the tourists
enough facilities to take rest and enjoy the
sea breeze. By using locally available
materials seating arrangements have been
provided for the tourists at the beach.
Best time To Visit: The monsoons witness a
good down pouring in and around the Bekal.
That makes the ideal visiting time somewhere
before monsoons. Summers are pleasant and not
that harsh. The best time to visit the place
is February and July.
